Learn how to identify and select the best natural woods for bowdrill sets in your local environment.

Tool Use & Safety
Gain confidence with carving tools as you shape your own spindle, hearth board, bearing block, and bow.

Understand the mechanics of bowdrill friction fire, including stance, posture, and movement efficiency.

Troubleshooting
Learn how to recognize and fix common issues—like squeaking, string slippage, or low friction.

  • 🚶‍♂️ Hike-In: Expect to hike ½ mile or more into basecamp, with additional trekking during the weekend

  • ⏰ Schedule:

    • Saturday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

    • Sunday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

  • đź’§ Water Provided at basecamp

  • 🔥 Shared fire only—no individual fires allowed

  • đźš« No pets or alcohol

  • 🔞 Ages 16 and up

Pack List:

  • Full tang, fixed-blade knife

  • Hatchet or axe

  • Folding saw

  • 100' of paracord or #36 bankline

  • Your favorite camping and survival gear

  • Food, snacks, and drinks

  • Personal needs/medications
